Currently, the department awards only LL.B in all its programs (Regular, evening, Distance and summer in-service).

According to the new national curriculum, the regular LL.B program takes five years. The Department has a student population of about 972 out of which 297(30%) are female students. So far the department has produced about 959 graduates in the regular LL.B Degree program. Brief assessment on the graduate profiles has been made. Accordingly, many of the graduates of the faculty were competent and were able to employ in many different public and private institutions of the country. The department provides moderate facilities and support for students. The Law library system contains in excess of 9,000 volumes with very latest collection of books and is also a subscriber of the Hein online internet service to facilitate online legal research of staffs and students.

The Mekelle University College of Law and Governance Department of Law run its distance education program in three centers (Mekelle, Axum and Addis Ababa)
