About the Center

The Environment and Natural Resource Law Center (ENRLC) is the youngest Center and was launched in September 2010. The ENRLC was established with the financial assistance of the Norwegian government, through a separate arrangement in the NORRAD III Project agreement. The ENRLC aims at: organizing and supporting short term and Long term training programs for stakeholders to tune in the laws, policies, procedures and outcomes in an environmental friendly manner, extending free legal assistance to individuals or people who have been victimized by environmental problems; giving consultancy services to stakeholders; strengthening institutions which function as positive pressure groups for policies and laws, conducting research on environment and natural resources laws. As per the project document on the “establishment of Mekelle University Law Department (now School of Law) Environment and Natural Resources Law Center” the Organizational structure of the Center is as follows: There is a Director, an Assistant Researcher, an officer and secretary.
